THE OSTEOPATH

ABIGAIL SMITHSON - MASTER OF OSTEOPATHY M.OST

I am a fully qualified and insured Osteopath and a registered practitioner with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), having achieved a first class masters degree in Osteopathy from Leeds Beckett University in 2015. After completing my degree I moved back to Gloucestershire where I had first discovered Osteopathy 7 years previously as a keen performing artist suffering from a lower back injury. This injury resulted in my experiencing first hand the impressive treatment effects that osteopathic techniques can have on reducing pain and improving the functioning of the body, both in terms of assisting in recovery from sporting injuries and in maintaining the optimum health of tissues.

Since beginning my studies in 2011 and setting up Stepping-Stones Osteopathy in 2015, I have worked with many individuals of differing ages and physical abilities, using my communication skills and professional knowledge gained to successfully treat a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints. I am extremely passionate about improving the lives of others through the provision of high-quality and empathetic osteopathic care, and I like to offer longer appointments in order to allow enough time to get to know patients, their case histories and to ensure that no stone is left unturned.

I am always endeavouring to widen my professional knowledge and skill set through the completion of professional courses as part of a process of continuous professional development. CPD courses completed in the past include those around the topics of postpartum treatment, rock-taping, mental health, pharmacology, neuro-dynamics, peripheral nerve injuries and many more.
